PrintPreparative Unit
The Production Unit at UCLH Pharmacy provides a range of services and compounded products both to the Trust and to the wider community. The various facilities are staffed by 18 full-time experienced Production staff, with additional rotating Pharmacist, Technician and Student Technician training posts.
The Department remains at the leading edge of Pharmaceutical R&D and has produced a number of novel formulations including preparations for tissue excitation prior to laser obliteration and a range of tablets for inherited enzyme disorders and magnesium deficiency.
The licensed aseptic unit generates TPN for up to 20 patients daily and has carried out extensive research into neonatal formulations. Up to 100 doses of cytotoxics are reconstituted daily.
